By : I can't compete with that kind of stuipd That one sentence is why I haven't bought a house in the 3+ years I've been watching the market. Although technically I guess won't is more accurate than can't.Either way right now there's plenty of stuipd out there, and either way I can't afford to pay to play. Nor do I wish to.I have no desire to spend the next 30 years of my life paying a crushing mortgage for the house of my dreams. I just want a livable dwelling in which I can wait out the next few years and entertain myself by working on a house that doesn't belong to someone else. Hey, if it appreciates, great. If it doesn't, I'm still paying less than renting this (or another) bubble house.I wish I could afford to wait a few years. No, that sentence is not contradictory. Rate this comment: 0 0

Hope everyone saw Squawk Box this monnirg, as David Walker was guest host. My head was hurting by 6am too much truth.Heck, even Mario Gabelli joined in.Yeppers the bond vigilantes scared Bill Clinton so much that he balanced the budget and started paying off the debt. Still confused why Bush2 thought that was such a bad idea. Looks like Obama's doubling up on Bush2. The misguided etchis thread is completely off target in many ways. It takes a micro view of a global problem. I had thought that I was doing the right thing by selling properties in 2006 and 2007. It was my intention to move to Spain. I want to retire in Morocco. My first indication something was wrong was in Trulillo Peru. In 2003 you could buy a house there for $35K, condos in city were about the same. Today $90K is more normal, but there are very few jobs that pay that kind of money. Loans are a new thing since 1998. In Spain, while loans have always been around few qualified. Condos that sold for $60K are now $180K. Again, jobs are scarce and pay lower than qualification.The promise that technology would bring better paying jobs never materialized. High finance seemed to be the money maker, and when the money was made, the jobs were gone. Construction stopped and the economies went back to normal. So for all the people who bought, or invested world wide what will be the future? All those profits you see today, what will they be worth when the global economy stalls because people have to pay off these mortgages? What about the people who bought this past year, here, in the United States, with good FICO scores and 20% down? Those people are stuck for many, many years to come while the global Real Estate market place winds down. Rate this comment: 0 0
